MAD MOM MARCH
As you may know Oklahoma ranks 49th in education expenditures per student. That's not okay. The Oklahoma Legislature is in the middle of budget talks and education, as always, stands to lose funding.
If we don't stand up and advocate to restore education funding to pre-recession levels:
- Class sizes will increase
- Teachers will be cut
- Course offerings will be eliminated
- School districts stand to lose key resources
Please join us at the Mad Mom March, Wednesday, May 9 at 1 p.m. at the Oklahoma State Capitol, 2300 N Lincoln Blvd. , to demand that state legislators add $50 million to the statewide education budget to help fill the funding gap in Oklahoma public schools.
RSVP to 49thisnotok@gmail.com with your commitment to attend and how many moms, dads, grandparents and other supporters you will bring with you!
49this not OK.We MUST take action now.

"KEEP OUR COACH" PLEDGE DRIVE
If you would like to keep Coach Reyes and a dedicated information technology teacher at EIS next year, please join our parent-driven pledge drive.
Send your confidential pledge via e-mail to keepourcoach@yahoo.com right now!
We have to move quickly as Coach Reyes has a job offer at Patrick Henry and needs to inform them of his decision by this Friday, May 11th.
If you own or work at a company that would consider a match, no matter how small or large, please let us know. We have already been promised matches from Williams and Accent Realtors. If you work for Williams, or any other philanthropic companies, please ask them about a tax deductible donation.
We are happy to report that as of 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, we have reached almost half of our 41k goal for our teacher retention campaign! $20,000.00 has been pledged by parents who want to see Coach Reyes and a dedicated information technology teacher at EIS next year.
Our goal is to raise the $41,000.00 in pledges by this Friday. We will not collect your actual pledged donation until June 15th. Your donation will be 100% tax-deductible. If we don't raise enough or if something changes with the state legislature and we retain our allocations by that time, we will destroy your confidential pledges.
Please e-mail your confidential pledge to keepourcoach@yahoo.com. You can use the following note to e-mail your pledge:
I, ______________________________________ , pledge $ _______________ to our teacher retention campaign. I understand no money will be collected unless we raise the full amount to fund a certified enrichment position ($41,000) and the legislation fails to provide the income for one teacher allocation. My tax-deductible donation will be collected by June 15th.
As an added incentive, everyone who makes a pledge is entered into a raffle for a chance to win a one-night stay at the Mayo Hotel Celebrity Suite, a $600.00 value. It's a great place to have a party with your friends with a fully equipped kitchen, wet bar and a jacuzzi! We will have our very own Coach Reyes pull the name for our winner regardless of whether or not we reached our goal.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Jennifer Stowe at jacksonstowe@yahoo.com or Stephanie Wheeler at scobble@pol.net .
Let's keep our Coach!!!

PTA UNIT MEETING - BOARD ELECTIONS & BUDGET APPROVAL
The May Unit Meeting has been changed to May 14th at 6:30 due to the early "last day of school."
We could not move it any earlier and still have time to put together a budget for next year.
We realize that the 14th still may not be a convenient date for many of you, but PLEASE make every effort to attend the meeting.
Obviously, if we are to elect new PTA officers and approve the budget for next year, it is CRITICAL that we have maximum member participation (not to mention a quorum) at the May meeting.
Thank you for all that you do to make EIS the best elementary school in Tulsa!
See you on the 14th!
