March
Dear Parents,
On Monday, March 2nd Eisenhower will participate in Read across America Day. This nation wide event is designed to encourage the love of reading. EIS will commemorate the day in three special ways: each teacher will share their favorite book with their own classrooms, the author Kay Jackson will visit our school and meet with each grade level, and Tuesday every child will receive a free book through the RIF program.
Have you seen signs of Africa around the building? We would like to invite everyone to the 2nd and 3rd grade music/drama program at 6:30 on Thursday, March 5th. They have been practicing hard and it should be quite a show! We hope you can join us!
This spring the EIS runners have the opportunity to participate in 5 community runs. Remember, the students must participate in three to earn the “Triple Crown Award”. For the first year ever, a student may count the runs in the fall as well as the spring runs to get a total of three. On Saturday, March 14th we will kick off the runs by participating in the St. Patrick’s Day run. Please join our run team for this fun, family event. Don’t forget to wear your EIS spirit wear the day of the run! There will be also another run opportunity on March 21st. The EIS dolphins will participate in the K9 Run. Look for information to come home on this run in your Home and Backs. Also, please mark your calendars for an EIS night at RunnersWorld Tulsa on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 6:00 pm. There will be pizza and drinks, plus 30% discount on Brooks and Adidas shoes and 10% off everything else. This is a great deal for running shoes and a fun night for all. RunnersWorld which is an EIS Partner in Education is located at 4329 South Peoria.
Our EIS Foundation has their ONLY FUNDRAISER coming up at the end of the month. The EIS Foundation’s annual golf classic will be held at Meadowbrook Country Club on March 30th in the afternoon. You may pick up information on how to play or donate to the cause in the EIS office!
Thank you for your continued support! We appreciate you!
