Tulsa Public Schools offers eight dual-language and immersion programs across the district.
The dual-language program at Eisenhower International School continues to excel. The school has received the Label Franc Education seal for the second time. This award is given out by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its Agency for French Education Abroad. The Label Franc Education seal is an official international accreditation awarded to schools offering a high-quality French bilingual program.
Eisenhower is a part of a very exclusive group to receive this award. There are only 285 schools/programs, across 53 countries to be awarded this international accreditation. Within the United States, only 46 schools/programs across 13 states have received this prestigious honor. Eisenhower is the only school in the state of Oklahoma to be accredited with the label.
To be eligible to receive the Label Franc Education accreditation, a school needs to have all of the following, according to the French language k12 website:
- A minimum of 30% of subjects must be taught in French
- Teachers must be highly qualified, certified, and fluent in French
- The school must have a strong professional development plan and a commitment to quality education
- Must participate in official language tests
- Must provide an environment that inspires an interest in French culture.
The process of being selected for this award is strenuous and signifies a huge success. It also provides Eisenhower with some outstanding perks.
The school has received access to selected resources from the CANOPE online platform. This platform includes produces digital teaching resources designed to meet the needs of the educational community. It includes access to Mathador a math resource website, Les Petits Ateliers a small workshops website, e-books and a select number of videos from Les Fondamentaux. It also allows Eisenhower staff access to various webinars.
In addition, Eisenhower now has access to CULTURETHEQUE. Which is an online media library accessible through the the French Institute. Eisenhower will also be considered a priority in the selection process for grantees of the French Dual Language Fund and offered many professional development opportunities.
